November 2003 Membership Meeting

General Membership Meeting
November 20, 2003

Present: Bill Briska, Dan and Pat Miller, Deborah Allen, Paul and Jean Bednar,  Betty Sanders-Webber, Fran Cella, Julie Schmitt, Dave Berkey, Mark Billings, Rebecca Hunter, Fran Olson-Klemmer, Doug Tomsha, Sue Tomsha, Jean Bednar, Mark Billings, Pat Segel

Fran Cella called the meeting to order at 7:10

The October general membership meeting minutes were distributed. Rebecca motioned to approve the minutes, seconded by Betty. Motion Approved.

The election slate for the Board of Directors was presented. Dan made a motion to approve the slate as presented, seconded by Jean. Motion passed unanimously. Please see the listing of our new elected Board. The appointed board positions will be filled shortly.

Betty asked GPA to “Adopt a Charity” this holiday season. She recommended supporting Larkin Center and the Fox Valley Hospice. Everyone agreed. Betty will distribute the list of needs for each of the two groups.  Articles may be delivered  to her home at 479 Barrett. When all is collected, Betty will deliver the items to each group, as a GPA donation

Fran explained the neighborhood plan grant application. It will be posted on the GPA website for all to view. If you would like a copy you can also call Fran at 695-4022.

Fran announced that ABODE will be coordinating a work day at 21-23 N Channing in the near future. Please contact Fran to express your interest in helping.

Paul discussed the streetlight pole garland project that will take place 11/29 and 11/30. A motion was made by Pat Segel for GPA to purchase enough garland (240 pieces) and 60 bows to do 60 additional poles this year. Betty seconded the motion. Unanimously passed. Paul, Pat Miller, Julie and Paul Durrenberger will finalize where the garland will be located.

Fran gave us the status of the Dream Team. They have looked at approx 5 buildings in the neighborhood. There is one that looks promising for a rehab project. The committee will prepare a more accurate budget for all necessary rehab work and then negotiate a cost with this owner. A decision should be made in the near future.

The GPA Christmas Party is still in the planning stages. Look for further notice. Meeting Adjourned at 8:15. Social Hour complete with pizza continued.

Bill made a presentation on the influence the Watch Factory had on our east neighborhoods.

Note:  the 11/6/03 Board meeting was canceled and a brainstorming session to complete the Neighborhood Plan Grant Application was conducted instead.
